BTech Support
The Kotak IISc AI ML Centre (KIAC) supports meritorious women students through the Kotak Scholarship, aimed at recognizing those with the highest JEE Advanced ranks who enroll in the BTech (Mathematics and Computing) programme at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
KIAC provides comprehensive support that includes full tuition fee coverage and scholarships for up to eight students each year to promote greater participation of women in computing, mathematics, and AI-related disciplines, enabling them to focus on learning, research, and innovation within a supportive academic environment.

Instructor Support
The Kotak IISc AI-ML Centre (KIAC)at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) actively supports undergraduate education through dedicated instructional staff and a well-equipped computation As part of its mission to foster practical learning and strengthen foundational skills among students, KIAC has appointed experienced UG Instructors who provide direct teaching assistance, lab supervision, and academic guidance for undergraduates. These instructors play a pivotal role in facilitating the effective use of the KIAC UG Computational Lab , a fully-networked facility designed to support coursework, programming exercises, and project work for students, particularly in the BTech Mathematics and Computing programme. lab that enhances hands-on learning in computing and AI-related coursework.

IISc Team Wins Gold at iGEM 2025, Earns SDG Nomination
A student team from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) secured a Gold Medal at the iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) competition in 2025, along with a nomination for the Best Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Impact Award.
The recognition came at the iGEM Grand Jamboree held at the Paris Convention Centre from 28–31 October 2025, which saw participation from over 400 teams worldwide.
The 15-member IISc team, mentored by Samay Pande, addressed the critical issue of nitrate leaching—the loss of nitrogen from soil due to excessive rainfall and irrigation, which can contaminate water bodies and pose risks to ecosystems, livestock, and human health.
Their project, titled ARGUS-2440 (Ammonium Rhizospheric Generation Using Soil Bacteria), proposed an innovative solution using soil bacteria to reduce nitrate loss and promote sustainable agriculture.
The SDG nomination highlights the team’s efforts to align scientific innovation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. As part of the project, the students engaged with farmers, academics, and policymakers to evaluate real-world impact and develop practical, scalable solutions.
This achievement underscores IISc’s growing presence in global synthetic biology research and student-led innovation.
