Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) Programmes
About the Programmes
IISc offers Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes, starting with Mathematics and Computing (since 2022) and expanding with three new B.Tech programmes from the Academic Year 2026–27. These modern programmes have been designed to cater to the rapidly evolving technological landscape.
The goal is to integrate strong theoretical foundations, hands-on research exposure, and industry-relevant skills, enabling graduates to pursue high-quality placements in leading technology organisations as well as research and higher studies. The location of IISc in Bengaluru—India’s technology and startup hub—further strengthens opportunities for industry interaction, internships, and innovation-driven careers.
Programmes Offered
B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing (offered since Academic Year 2022–23)
New B.Tech Programmes (launched from Academic Year 2026–27):
- Aerospace Engineering
- Mechanics and Computing
- Materials Science and Engineering
Eligibility
Candidates must satisfy the eligibility requirements, including performance in the Class XII (or equivalent) examination, as prescribed in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) Business Rules for admission to IITs, applicable for the relevant academic year.
Selection and Admission Procedure
Admission to all the above B.Tech programmes at IISc shall be through JoSAA 2026.
Candidates are required to register, fill in choices, and participate in the counselling process through the official JoSAA 2026 online portal.
No separate application is required to be submitted on the IISc admission portal for admission to the B.Tech programmes.

Admission is strictly based on JoSAA counselling and seat allocation, subject to fulfillment of eligibility conditions as notified by JoSAA for the respective academic year.
